Promises...

I promise:
  1. On the field, I will (with spirit) not respect any opponent. (leave friendliness for the party or sideline)
  2. I will play like I should own any of the opposing 7 and if they score, I will let them know I will kick their ass if they look at me wrong.
  3. I will unload bombs saturday morning through sunday afternoon and let teams know our deep game is as good as any in the nation.
  4. I will spike every goal I score this season.
  5. My teammates will always hear my voice from the sideline.
  6. There is no mark I can't break, no cup I can't shred, and no handler or cutter I can't D.
  7. My team is better than yours.
  8. I want to win more than you.
I want Regionals.

Hellfish Bonanza

5th place finish:
W: Lehigh: 13-12
L: Ohio State: 6-10 ..........definitely winnable if Quinton didn't have 2 easy turfs/turns throwing to Lu
W: Virginia (B): 13-5
W: Richmond: 12-10

L:Dickinson: 12-13 .............definitely winnable by margin of 5 ot 6 points if Quinton didn't get 2 turns/point blocked in the very first point. good job Qma
W: Wake Forest: __-__
W: James Madison: 15-8

great weekend to build on Haze, especially shown by how we dealt with shitty conditions. tore up some zone's, D lines got huge breaks, demonstrated our deep game and athletic ability. i love playing with this team.

however there were plenty of turns, bad decisions, general let downs in energy (let teams creep back with bad decisions),

Thoughts before I sleep:
-Need to practice dump sets into the wind-->all handlers and cutters (handlers...saw only 2 or 3 times in which we actually turned to break side handler and that handler made horizontal cut directly behind middle handler for dump)
-handlers need to get better...period...quicker resets, quicker/smarter decisions, no telegraphing throws (tyler- telegraphing flicks way too much/chooch- gotta be more confident with handling especially in windy conditions)
-i think perry should be moved to an o handler
-d line great job
-nova needs to learn how to be chilly with the disc, dump, catch with two hands (pancake)
-quinton needs to learn how to pull/huck up wind, cut up line, be faster
-husayn- saw a moment of greatness on D with a huge lay out D past his man cutting under...needs to use his speed to get d's like this more often.
- did i say handlers have to get better? yeah...cutters are doing all the work, gotta reward them
-we have to come up with a system of calls and such for the sideline players to utilize. general shouting and excitement definaitely help at times with energy, but can be detrimental to a structured Defense. (simple "no around, no inside" calls for marks could be beneficial and i feel like not everyone knows what these terms of ideas mean on our team, nor do they understand when to call deep or short on hucks (Ben Kenigsberg was playing D once on a cutter streaking deep and the disc dropped shorter than he thought and his guy caught the swilly huck b/c Ben heard nothing on the sideline other than RABBLE RABBLE YAHH WHOO from the sidelines when he could have picked up that d easily.
-lu wang, you played great. alex grant asked me who the MVP was for the weekend and it took me some time (b/c there were a handful of great performances) to decide that Lu would get my vote for this weekend. got some big d's and point blocks and was part of that huge cup made up of eli, lu ryan. i also always had him as an under option when he was on O. he makes great in cuts. schulz had a stellar weekend as well, with many score and huge d's.
-ben kenigsberg: BEN KENIGSBERG!!!! ...that's all i have to say about him.

-on a personal note: i dont know if i'm egotistical to say I'm a big part of the O line as a handler, but i think i am...and i want to be. i want to be that middle handler marching the team up the field. i both love and hate the pressure that comes with that role and want to do a better job at fulfilling that role by cutting down my turns and improving my deep game. I am blessed with a d-line that got us the breaks we needed to win games, but i dont want to rely on them to bail me out when i fuck up. (although i know they will).hmmm. i'll probably be more introspective later....

-although i have alot of things to say about improvement, there was a lot of heart and potential shown this weekend, i'm proud of how people played and i will personally use this weekend as a memory to fire myself up to work harder at exercising and perfecting my field awareness/throws
